This quest is a horrible pain in the ass.

1612k hp on the brain, and you have to sit there and hack and slash at the brain until it dies.. This takes ages. And just to make things even more interesting, he is easy to bug, so he will evade and you will never get it done.

If you do try to do it the way it's supposed to be done, you will be aided by 4 NPCs which does basically nothing. And you get a dot all the time you damage him. So you have to run back and forth between a safe zone and the mob for a solid 2 hours to get it done.

Yeah. It's bugged. Sometimes your 4 buddies are nowhere to be found and with solo dps you won't be able to kill him w/o running under cover. And if you run back and forth to heal/remove acid boss will most likely evade bug on you.

Best bet is to make sure those 4 guys are following you (abandon/retake if needed) and then nuke the brain. With quest gear Its doable, but will be a close call.

For ranged dps classes it is possible to hit the brain from the safety of one of the forcefields. This basically trivializes the encounter, though it still takes a ridiculous amount of time.

For those that the quest has bugged, just drop the quest and pick it up again. I ran into this issue last night and that solved it.

As mentioned, stay in the circle so that he does not evade, you will be provided bubbles and healing from the shaman you save. They will aid you. Just to add, his hit box is so large that melee can likely stand in the shield the whole time.

One way i found to be working is if you abandon the quest, dismount from your mount and take the quest again. I personally found that the NPCs would spawn then and make this a cakewalk. I mentioned this to some others who had issues and it also worked for them.

DId it as a rogue in mostly quest/dungeon gear and a couple leftover icc25 pieces I couldn't upgrade first try. Just dps him as much as you can and run back to heal in the bubble when you need to. For the first million hp I didn't have any helpers, then they finally showed up and when they did it was easy.

Honestly, I'd rather have a quest like this than run around looking for 10 random things that 50 people are fighting over. Plus it gave me 100k xp.

If you find your health dropping quickly for no discernable reason, it's probably the NPCs belonging to nearby opposite-faction characters. I constantly got knocked around (thunderstorm) and attacked (stormstrike) by invisible NPCs. I noticed my NPCs killing a very confused opposite-faction paladin as well.

Do NOT stand near players of the other faction. It's incredibly frustrating to be assaulted by invisible enemies. You don't need the tag on the brain to get quest credit, so just fight together from opposite sides of the brain until Blizzard get around to fixing it.

So, yeah. It was bugged for me too, I dropped the quest. Picked it back up, made sure the Shamans were following me (first time they just chilled under their little bubbles and I died). Here is the kick..... try to do it when other people are doing it. As long as the brain dies, you get credit if you've attacked it. I did it with 1 other Horde (not in party) and some Ally and we all got credit. Don't worry, we killed the ally right after, lol. Anyway, get some help and it's easy pesy.

Very simple quest. Just burn the Brain down while staying in the bubble the healing guy makes.

Done in 2 minutes as an 84 arcane mage.

This quest is not nearly as bad as people say it is. If he is evade bugged just abandon the quest and restart it. I took him down in about a minute and a half as a lv 84 Shadow Priest.

This quest seems to be a little bit bugged.

1. dont fly or ride on your mount to the brain. You have to walk, otherwise your shamans wont heal or follow you and you will die soon.

2. if there's opposite faction doing this quest, stay away. I got killed 2 times from their npcs... i didnt attack them at all.

3. in my first attempt i didnt get the kill when i helped someone who was already fighting the brain. In my second attempt i got the kill....

When I took the quest, someone else was in the area, and got aggro on the boss first. I joined in, and killed the brain boss, then waited for a respawn. And waited. And waited.

Eventually, I dropped the quest and reaccepted, and the brain boss spawned immediately. It takes a couple of minutes to bring him down, but honestly, it's pretty easy. As a hunter I did nothing special, just dps, and watch my aggro now and again. Your Shaman friends, along with yourself are plenty of dps to finish him before being digested first.

There are NPCs that help you? :) I did it without the NPCs helping.

If you don't have any NPCs with you, you can do it as long as there are other players in the phase with you. In my case, it was me and about three or four Horde players. Just as long as at least one of them has aggro on the brain, you can run in, attack, run out, heal, and repeat until dead.

After reading the comments, I was still baffled as to why I couldn't get the NPC's help. There were quite a few people down there doing this quest... I abandoned and got the quest 5 times before they appeared for me.

This is such colossal bull%^&*. This npc is currently evade bugged, so we can't complete the quest, and we can't do anything else in the zone until we complete this quest. Thanks, Blizzard, for not testing your quests. quinnallman this is not the only glitch and or bug in my opinion blizzard should have waited another week before releasing cataclysm so they could have fixed the bugs and gliches but they diden't so now we are stuck with a game that has quests that don't work or quests that crash WoW altogether...but other then that its a really good game

It's not bugged. I've just flied in on a mount and started dpsing. It took me a while, but I downed her really easily as a hunter, from time to time the guys were making sphere to heal me a bit, which actually wasn't even needed.

Did this on my warrior tonight, 12/14/10. It bugged out at first so i dropped the quest and waited for the brain to disappear but it didnt so I logged off to take a break. I came back and started the quest again and the npcs followed me in and it all worked out. Killed it in little over a minute with no danger to myself.

If your having trouble with this then you can get help by grouping - each person does it on their own but it gets "completed" when any person completes it. My guess is that if any of the 5 people were not bugged then all would get credit.

After you kill the brain, Earthcaller Yevaa will summon a gryphon to fly both of you back to Earthcaller Torunscar. As you fly out of the maw, she snuggles up against your chest and tells you what a manly stud you were back there.* ^.^

It bugged on me the first time as well, second time i managed to solo it (85 DK, some blue gear), without help of the rescued shamans by the way, no idea where they were (scared probably ;) ).
I noticed that if i could keep my diseases ticking when in the sphere for recovery, he wouldn't go into evasive mode. So if you have any DoT capabilities, you should be able to manage, as you keep aggro on him.

By the way, I walked back everytime either the digestion meter or my health was halfway, had to run to the sphere about 4-5 times.

One thing thats really frustrating is the fact that after you kill the brain you are being flown out of the maw with that acid bar still on you and it CAN kill you before you make it out completely.

this quest is really not a problem. But it does bug out very easily.

If you are unable to kill the Brain of Iso'rath it is most likely buged. Just abandon the quest while you are still in the area and pick it back up, ensure you do not run out of the water to get healing it will re-bug the quest. You really don't have to do much damage the nonplayer characters do most of the work just stand by the Druids after you've hit the brain a few times.

Had to abandon Nightmare quest. The npc Shaman's remained with me, as I picked the quest up again. Completed in 2 minutes.

I managed to kill the brain without the npc's, but ended up dying a second or two after.
Once I resurrected the npc's appeared around me. I attacked a mob to see what they would do, and they attacked and killed it in about 3 seconds. I got full exp. I ran around for about 15 minutes tagging things and letting the npc's kill them for me before they disappeared.

The quest is easy. I bugged it the first time because I assumed that, with all of the geysers spouting around me, that I needed to keep moving. I missed that the shaman NPC in my group was bubbling, so I ran out to a bubble to cleanse.

Stay in one spot, don't worry about the geysers. When your shaman bubbles, run to that one to cleanse, and then rejoin the fight. That's all there is to it.

Just stand by the bubble and dont even bother to 'join' the fight...not necessary. I stood next to the NPC that creates the bubble and he kept me healthy while the NPCs took down the brain.

Just killed him on my 85 Ret Pally with mostly heroic blues and just walked up to him blew my cds (used Lay on Hands as well) and killed him. The shamans kept me healed. Don't know if the gimped him or improved the damage the shamans do but it seemed pretty easy.

NPC's didn't help me, but brain didn't go in evade mode either because my pet kept attacking. So it took me many many minutes to tear away those 1.5 million hp solo.

This might be funny for you but after completing this quest, the NPCs bugged and stood with me and accompanied me everywhere I went in Twilight Highlands. It was funny watching 4 lvl85 elite NPC beating the crap out of every mob who dared attack me and healing me whenever I dropped below 90% health :)

Unfortunately I had to fing a flying zeppelin to complete the quest Something Stolen and they disappeared :(

Ok what the hell was that?

We get freaked out that we failed a huge important mission (keeping Thrall and the Earthen Ring alive). We do this big long questline. We even help kill a boss with 1.4mil health and we don't even get a blue for all this?

Good god if we killed a boss we should get a purple let alone at least a pretty good blue. Baaaa.... What a dissapointment.

Good job, pat on the back and a crapy green. Very disapointing.

This npc looks a lot like the final form of Metroid Prime from the original Metroid Prime game. Also, the prior quest, The Terrors of Iso'rath, has a game play mechanic very similar to one found in Metroid Prime 2, where the player has to run from light orb to light orb to avoid taking damage in the dark world.

Coincidence? Maybe.

This quest is absolutely worth the frustration for anyone who is playing / has played a Shaman. The quotes from your NPC helpers are absolute gold.

"I fail to understand why they banned totemic cleansing. No one was ever in range, anyways."

Bugs aside this quest amused me when one of the Shaman said "Thanks fer saving me, lassie, I had a horrible vision. I was trapped in a cave of flame, forced to drop totems and heal irate warriors for years on end without seeing a single piece of shaman gear."

Just did this buggy quest in 2 tries. First try the shamans didn't get spawned and after about 400k of damage, I gave up and succumbed to the massive DoT. After I died and respawned, the shamans joined me. I made sure I stayed nice and close to the brain and he went down just before I went oom on my ele shammy.

This quest was a .... *sigh* pain. Unfortunately, with Catacylsm comes more bugged quests. Firstly, ran in on foot to attack him. Then suddenly, realised all the other shamans had ditched me. So, walked back into the bubble and they magically appeared. Went to attack, then he went into 'evade' mode. Flew away till I was out of sight, flew in - no difference. So I relogged and that did the trick. Killed first time, no difficulties other than that shaman's bad healing skills. I was practically digested by the time he decided to chain heal me. I think the rewards were poor, it was a fair bit of trouble and at times like these.... I wish I could use ranged attacks and self-healing.

The worst part of this quest is something one of the nps's say. It made my want to smile and cry at the same time.

Still buggy as of 4.06a, but doable. I had to drop and re-take it 4 times to get the NPCs to show up. Once they did, it's a piece of cake.

I could not get this quest to complete. The brain kept resetting to 100% health partway through the fight. After dozens of attempts I finally figured out the problem. I had the 죽음인도자의 의지 trinket equipped. The shapeshift caused by the trinket would (sometimes) cause the brain to reset to 100% health. After removing the trinket I had no problems.

Well I have tried this quest a couple times so far today and it seems bugged. I will get the brain down to about 25% and then it drops aggro and the health resets itself. I have been told you have to wait a bit between tries for this quest to work.

I had a differant bug than anyone is describing here. Did it with my hubby. The brain he is fighting dies, mine is still showing at about 10 %. But, I get swept up onto the mount and flown away with no kill credit (since "mine" didnt die) We did this 4 times, till finally I just fought it solo.

Tried turning off addons (assuming it was lag) etc. Dont know what the problem was but it was VERY annoying.

As a Protection Paladin, I just stood next to the shaman that pops the protective bubble, and attacked with my few ranged attacks. He didn't bug, and the NPCs did the job entirely. And quite fast, I must say, compared to some posts that points to hours of fighting.

When you get ported back up to hand this in to Earthcaller Torunscar you can instead of handing it in run around with a posse of elite 85's watching your back, assisting you with mobs... And the opposing faction. Make sure you dont fly away or they will despawn or at least loose track and interest in you.

I had trouble completing this quest as the brain would keep resetting but I tried abandoning and restarting it a couple of times just to decide to try the "waiting" approach. It seems to of worked when I sat still in the place where you grab the quest and then after a bit the NPCs will finally spawn. Hope this helps anyone else.

İf you got a Deathbringer's Will Trinket when you shift shape the brain resets, so you have to unequiped the trinket and you'll be fine.

As of April 02 the quest seems to be fixed. after finding that I had to stay with the Tauran shaman so his bubble would keep me healed the brain died rather quickly. My self and a guild mate both did the quest the same day with no problems. even after dieing the first few times the NPC's were waiting for me when I returned.
FYI if anyone has trouble releasing the NPC's #1 kill the first tenticale after the first NPC is released he or she will join you then just move from bubble to bubble the NPC will move out of the bubble and create a new bubble close enough to kill the next tenticale, after releasing all the Shaman's just stand on the edge of the circle with the Tauran Shaman and use ranged DPS, I am a balance druid so all my spells were able to hit, Melee player may want to add their input, but from what I could tell, standing directly under the brain might be the best way to avoid its atacks, but not certain

I encountered a bug today that I don't think anyone else has posted about here. I was on my hunter and had no problem gathering up the 4 NPC's. The bug I found was that at random points in the fight, I would lose my target and my pet would return to me. When I retargeted the brain, it was back at 100% health. It didn't seem to despawn at all, and it never evaded, it just reset. Several times I was only able to target it for a second or so, and then I'd lose my target. I couldn't even get my pet to stay on it.

I did notice that there seemed to be two brains at the start, one inside the other... I assume this was because there was an opposite-faction rogue fighting as well. However I'm pretty sure this didn't cause the reset bug, since I waited for him to finish and tried again, and still had the same problem.

In the end, I just ran back to a bubble and waited for several minutes, then tried again and it worked fine.

I had an issue that the npcs were attacking him, but whenever I cast a spell, he stopped being targeted and it was as if he was respawning each time he was hit. I tried abandoning the quest and getting it again, no change. What did work was reloading the UI. If the same thing happens to you, just /reload and it should be fine.

Well... As of 4.1 I have done this quest twice and he didn't bug into evade either time BUT the NPC's didn't help other than to have the healing bubbles up. Did it as a MM Hunter and it took almost 10 minutes. I'd attack till 30% health, run back to the bubble to heal up and heal my pet then go back out. He never reset. Could be done as any spec but probably even slower for melee classes as you will have more run time to and from the healing bubbles and dealing with the blood adds. I wasn't mounted when I took the quest so I'm not sure why the NPC's didn't work.

Also, the adds gave no XP so I'm assuming Blizz changed it so you couldn't use the NPC's to farm easy XP.

I'm a BM hunter and I got it in 1 try but it took near 15 min as well. What I did was just kite around use DoTs and have pet tank... don't think my pet really took any damage .. not to much just diverted a lot of attention away from me, key thing is to not get hit by the blood, go to the bubbles when u hit about 30-40% and keep dots on him or burn him in burst, if your ranged.

Appears to be pretty bugged. I ended up soloing it with no support on my level 84 Combat Rogue. Had to run to the field of restorations whenever my health began to get low. It took quite a while.

Dag, this is like reading Thottbot. 86 posts so far and mostly everybody wants to write about bugs and not about how to do the quest.

For ranged or caster classes, you don't even have to leave the quest giver's bubble. The brain is within range. Just stand there, let yourself be healed and keep shooting.

I kept trying to walk toward the target (as several posts have suggested) and kept getting killed. There's no need for that.

Melee classes? I dunno, I wish you the best of luck...

While doing this on my death knight for half the fight the companions weren't there. Then when i stayed inside the healing bubble for a longer period of time then before they suddenly appered.
So if the companions arent there, just try and stay inside the bubble abit.

The quest bugged on me a few times making the NPC shamans not spawn, but on the 4th try of accepting the quest it worked. So just keep abandoning and retaking if it doesn't work, it'll work in the end.

After I took the quest the first time, I died. My guess is that since I feral charged in cat form, as a druid, I was behind the brain and the shaman couldn't heal me. I tried the same tactic a second time, but tried to run to the front after feral charging (Only so that I could use ravage). Still, the shaman's healing wasn't really that good.

Now, after I died a second time, the brain didn't show up. I tried to abandon and take the quest again about 4 or 5 times... Nothing happened. I checked this page, and no one had had problems with the brain not showing up, but some people have had problems with the shamans not showing up, so I tried to abandon the quest and restart the game like some people said, and then I took it again, and it worked.

This time I went into bearform, just to tank, stood in line of sight for the healer shaman, and tada, I got the brain! So yeah, the reason the healer isn't healing you, MIGHT be that you are not in his line of sight, /:

Make it easy ...do it as a lvl 85 :P LOL ... Holy priest u just alternate between the 2 closest bubbles .... stay in bubble so u cant die ... and cast damage spells .... PWS to other bubble and p Screanm as u run past grouped up slimes ... cast damage ...repeat ... keep up mana ...but it can take a while ...my H priest does fail damage

did it today with my 84 rogue in quest gear. I stayed near my shamans (two of them) by the inside of the outer ring so that i was always in mellee range of the gigantic hitbox. I got low a few times but it wasn't avoidable and my shamans kept me up, simple as that. one shot.

Very easy to do as a hunter.

Stand on the border of the bubble with the main shamans in it, and you should be in reach of the brain. it will heal you over 4k each second and just takes about 4 minutes to dps him down. And when finished, you wont get the bar glitch and die on the way out.

I can confirm, for at least myself (85 Pally), I could only reach the Iso'rath was with Judgement and Exorcism from inside the bubbles.

He still died in using those after a minute or two though so no worry. I just wasn't able to melee him as others had said.

Also NOTE: If you are mounted and you are wondering why you can't attack Iso'Rath just dismount and you will be able to. This may be obvious but had me scratching my head for a minute.
