The Stuff of Legends - An In-depth Guide to Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest

목차

I'd really recommend enjoying this, as it not only reunites many other familiar faces. but also takes you across all of Azeroth. Lots of nostalgia, humor and interactions.

The really interesting part, however, is that there's an entire bonus questline, serving as a final farewell to Tarecgosa, if the player had 용의 분노 - 타렉고사의 안식. In hindsight, this gives some understandable context as to why she wasn't mentioned earlier on. It starts with 타렉고사의 안식, and ends up giving us the 잔존하는 타렉고사의 메아리, which lets us use 타렉고사의 형상 without having the staff equiped!

Below, I'll cover a few quests of interest, before continuing to the Tarecgosa-specific questline in detail.

잊기 전에 할 일

  세네고스세네고스

Will be elaborated on soon - but the gist of is that both Tarecgosa and Arygos are mentioned. While not too special in itself, the details of the latter is quite interesting.

After saying our goodbyes to Senegos in 평온한 작별 인사 - thus ending the "public" part of the questline - Kalecgos approaches us with a special matter. One he has postponed for too long. One regarding Tarecgosa.

타렉고사의 안식

  칼렉고스칼렉고스

This has a lovely bit of callback to the bonus dialogue, that was available after the quest 중대한 첩보 (see more here), in which we had our adventure with Tarecgosa with 유리를 통해 보이는 어두운 모습. Kalecgos tells the following:

Kalecgos says: I have learned much in this short time on the isles, friend. And there is something I must do. My sister, you are not forgotten to me. You never will be. But you deserve more than an eternity alone.

You feel a familiar presence envelope you.

Tarecgosa whispers: Kalec... my friend, tell him -- no, it can wait. It is something I must say myself.

Kalecgos says: Tarecgosa's sacrifice was something which involved us both. I would be honored if you helped me send her to rest.

There an additional option, that serves as a short reminder of how Tarecgosa died, and why her essence was bound to the staff. Just in case we forgot what happened almost 12 years ago during 한 몸으로.

(Optional) <Remind me of what happened to Tarecgosa>
Kalecgos says: Tarecgosa was destined for greatness, but destiny was not kind to her. After the Cataclysm, we were betrayed by one of our own. He chose to serve Deathwing. My sister threw herself in front of an attack meant for me, and suffered a mortal wound in the process. To prolong her time on Azeroth, we bound her soul to a staff. One that you now have in your possession.

After that, Kalecgos sends you off to gather different things, so that Tarecgosa can properly be put to rest.

끝없는 사랑

  칼렉고스칼렉고스

Given alongside 잊지 않기를, this quest is rather trivial, as it only involves gathering 20x 찰나의 모래, which drops from various Time-Lost, found around The Temporal Conflux in south-eastern Thaldraszus.

The point is obviously to highlight the connection to the Bronze Dragonflight, in terms of the original creation of the staff, but not much besides that. I'd recommend gathering these after the first step of 잊지 않기를 - especially if you have your Hearthstone bound to Valdrakken - before continuing onward with the second step.

잊지 않기를

  칼렉고스칼렉고스

There's a lot more story going on in this quest, which is given alongside 끝없는 사랑, taking you two different places, before meeting up with Kalecgos again.

This time, we are tasked with finding a replacement for a bough of Nordrassil, from which our staff was made. This is found in the Manaheart Flower, which we must rejuvenate with the aid of the Green Dragonflight. As such, we journey to Vakthros, and find a 연약한 마나심장. Upon interacting with a lone , surrounded by 불의 정령s, we suddenly hear a familiar voice:

Tarecgosa says: Know, mortal, that I do not resent our time together... nor Kalec's actions. I have seen so much of this world through your eyes. I could not imagine a world where our lives did not intersect.

Before traveling to the Ancient Bough to plant the , remember that this is a good time to continue north to complete 끝없는 사랑.

When we arrive, and pick up the empowered 만발하는 마나심장, we hear Tarecgosa's familiar voice once again:

Tarecgosa says: As the world changes -- and you change -- I stay stagnant. It is time for me to move on.

As a fun little bit of trivial, it makes perfect sense that changes to , given where we are. However, the interesting part is that a green dragon, 베르디사, stands close - most likely to ensure the success. We've seen this particular dragon twice before: Lastly, during the 아제로스의 심장 quest 눈을 감아선 안 돼 (as 베르디사) and - and this is the interesting part - all the way back, as a seemingly unrelated NPC, in 마력의 눈 (as 베르디사). There's probably some untold story there, but it's still a really cool callback. Intentional or not.

We then head to Kalecgos, awaiting us at the Veiled Ossuary, outside the Tombstone room.

  칼렉고스칼렉고스

It's time. To prepare Tarecgosa's Tomb, we start by placing the , after which Kalecgos starts.
Kalecgos says: With the combined magic of the bronze and blue dragons, we should be able to transfer Tarecgosa's soul from the staff. If you could prepare the grave, I will start the ritual.

With the grave prepared, we signal Kalecgos to 의식 시작, during which we focus our power to transfer the soul from Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest to the grave. A heartwarming interaction between Kalecgos and Tarecgosa takes place:

Kalecgos says: Tarecgosa, my dear sister. I feel as though I am still learning from you, despite being the teacher. Your absence is one that weighs heavily on my heart. I wish I could fly in the same skies as you once again. But clinging to an unchangeable past in hopes that fate may be kind is a fruitless dream. I realize this now. It will be the memories I have of you that will define my own future.

Tarecgosa says: Kalec, my dear brother. I wish for you to know one thing. I am proud of you.

Kalecgos says: I -- I'm so sorry… for failing you…

Tarecgosa says: It was my choice -- there is a world that needs you out there now, my wingmate. And I know you will guide our kin into the brightest future. It is time for my chapter to end.

Kalecgos says: Farewell, Tarecgosa. A dear sister, hero, student and teacher. Though blood does not bind us, you will always be family. May your soul find its place soaring among the stars.

With the ritual completed, we're given 잔존하는 타렉고사의 메아리, which grants us 타렉고사의 형상, without the need of 용의 분노 - 타렉고사의 안식. A very neat reward - especially considering the plans to let many more mounts be compatible with 용 조련술.

What You Will Have Experienced

Lots of things happens during the questline, but it's always great to have a list to brag with. It's not necessarily in chronological order, but it's a list, never the less.

Earned the amazing staff 용의 분노 - 타렉고사의 안식!
  • Be the first mortal ever to have fused their essence with a dragon. In this case, the dragon Tarecgosa.
  • You will be able to transform into 타렉고사의 형상, acting as a flying mount - later without using the staff (타렉고사의 형상)!
  • The death of 라그나로스, and his minions in 불의 땅 - especially 청지기 스태그헬름.
  • Disrupting a ritual that would make Nordrassil burst in flame - and we cannot let that happen twice!
  • Witnessing 칼렉고스' ascension as the new Aspect of Magic and leader of the Blue Dragonflight.
  • Being able to go back to Coldarra, as the phased scene from 지지 still seems to remain. A very nice unique setting!
  • You, and all of your guildies, gets the cute little companion 꼬마 타렉고사.
  • ... and much more!

    Credits

Big shout-outs go to the following, for making this guide possible:
    • <Myth> of EU-Turalyon - My AWESOME guild, which made it possible for me to start the quest in the first place. Without you guys, I probably wouldn't have started writing this guide at all.
    • The Wowhead Database and Users - For obvious reasons. Without the various spells and items and their comments from the users, a lot of the speculation would have been based on nothing.
    • The Wowhead Staff - Quite a few of the other staffers actually:
ArgentSun - For bashing my head in with all kinds of editorial formatting, hints, tips and tricks.
    • Neutronimity - Same as above, plus digging out models with me, and the like.
    • Miyari - Making the very early quest-list, that turned out to be the backbone for this.
    • Ashelia - Letting me have a go at the Dragonwrath-part of the Patch 4.2 guide.
    • Anshlun - Helping with getting the guide updated, in ways I could not.

아우비 - For refuelling my hate towards the Black Dragonflight, and feeling pity towards what the Blue Dragonflight has gone through.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Because, as we all know, 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything - as well as being the id of this guide, AND 10 times the patch number in which the staff was introduced.
    Barney Stinson - Because... well...
