People in this thread: "Rio is toxic, I just play to have fun"Same people:"Why I'm not getting invited to things that require skill and knowledge?"Keep doing heroics and low keys if you only want "fun".Rio is completely necessary, saves you time of avoiding people with high ilvl that think mythics consist of just avoiding fire on the ground and interrupting once in a while. I'm 100% sure most people that complain about Rio don't know a bunch of mechanics that would make you wipe in a high key but they think they should be invited anyways.
While I understand and can appreciate the purpose and intent of this "guide", unfortunately there was a highly elitist tone through out the entire article. 😒I did find it comical though, that there was the suggestion to stop doing M+ via PUG in LFG - which is literally the only "use" for Raider.OI... 🤣😂
Just my two coppers...Getting in voice is a cheat code: Agreed.Reroll to a better class: You really only get two actual choices towards player agency(i.e. this is one of the key types of fun in fantasy games), race & class. Making one of these choices arbitrary on a per month basis is time-consuming and un-fun (for some people). I can't stress enough how much this stipulation hurts the roleplaying aspect of this game if you can't play the class fantasy you want because of this. And to answer your retort of "Well then don't do Mythic+" I can assure you having fun with roleplay is not mutually exclusive with having fun gaining a higher iLv of gear. And Mythic+ has become one of the mainstays of gear progression(or maintenance).Stop using LFG: Requires friends who both play WoW and are interested in running Mythic+ at the same time. I feel that this is very much a "Your Miles May Vary" situation but I personally can never get a full group together to run M+ from guild or friends list alone due mostly to scheduling and lack of interest. Very much gatekeeping against any solo players out there. I do however feel I dwell in the "worst off than most people" in this regard.Networking: Same as my above comment. Gatekeeping vs. players who play solo for any variety of reasons.IO is your foot in the door: Sadly an excellent analogy. Many people these days can't get higher paying jobs despite being qualified because employers choose to use a college degree as a standard. Expensive, time-consuming college degrees that take years to earn and many thousands of dollars (in the USA at least). I speak as someone who spent 5 years to earn a bachelor's that recognizes many just as qualified or more qualified people in my field that get paid less or are refused advancement due to the lack of a college degree.Make your own group: Excellent advice.Playing with people who are better than you: Excellent advice.Be willing to do keys that are not score for you for practice: Excellent advice.Attitude: Excellent advice.Stay Humble: Excellent advice.Be Introspective: Excellent advice.Local Record / Stream your runs: Seems like good advice for advanced players.Constantly tweaking your UI: Excellent advice.Be available: While this advice is true...I can't help but feel that this is gatekeeping against non-social butterflies such as myself. I am glad that people that are comfortable talking to other strangers online can have an advantage in what is essentially a social aspect of the game...but much like lacking ramp access to a building this soft requirement feels like not enough consideration is given to players who can't or won't engage as much in this way. I am not referring to the extreme of "never talks to anyone" but the middle ground like you know maybe 12 people's Btags in game and chat actively with your guild but they don't really run dungeons.TL;DRRaider.io may not be the root problem with Mythic+ design but it is only helpful to the eltists jerks out there that continue to gatekeep against the new/solo/casual players who may not want to push a +15 but are just trying to be eligible for gear that is an improvement over their WQ max ilv stuff. If you are listing your key groups at an iLv or raider.io score that outstrips the reward for running that key...that's gatekeeping. Knock it off.
I am sorry that you have failed to understand Mythic +, just like in the post you replied to you have made the mistake thinking that the ILVL at the end is the key to entry. I fully believe there are players with 0 r.io that can do 15's. There is also a plethora of players with score that have proven they can do it.
I quit dungeons entirely because if IO. It created a feedback loop where the first ones to grind a high score and their friends are the only pool being accepted to keys. A solo player has to invest a way more time to overcome an artificial gate-keeping system that is self perpetuating. Many capable players who could be pushing higher keys are being shut off the talent pool and the gearing process just because they're not the flavor of the patch or didn't grind a 3rd party score. To me that's a design problem from Blizzard's side. M+ is a small group activity that that requires much less time investment per run than a Mythic raid and has no lockout issues. Shouldn't be like a real life job application!
Wow. Have come back to this post after a day and it is getting worse.I feel sorry for Tettles becuase he is catching flak from a large portion of the Wowhead community because they refuse to read the guide. So many comments in here are about doing +15's, this guide isn't meant for this bracket. This post is not about gear, it isn't about weekly loot. It is about pushing Raider.io similar to other leaderboard systems e.g Overwatch ranks. This was made so that players stuck at an IO bracket that want to push higher might benefit from the tips provided and assist in achieving their goals. People are once again misunderstanding Raider.io. Raider.io is just WoWlogs for dungeons, I fail to understand all the new hate towards a system that has existed forever.
