It kind of spoke to us. We could have had them just be friends if we wanted, but we felt like man, they have a much deeper connection, and it’s something that could feel like a really genuine relationship. It just felt really right for these characters.

World of Warcraft is not known for its romances. A lot of the weddings we’ve seen have had tragic endings. It’s not like we’re changing the game to be about romance. But there’s a place for it, where it feels like it enhances the story or the characters.

I think that Flynn and Shaw just made this really natural combination that was fun to see through questing in game, in Shadows Rising and in some other written material that we’ve got coming. I think you’ll just see that chemistry blossom even more. They’re fun characters to write for.Shadows RisingNight Fae campaignArdenweald has a questline where you’re trying to figure out some of the aspects of Tyrande’s transformation when she took on the Night Warrior power, and what that power is doing to her, what it means and what the potential cost is. You encounter a couple, where one of them was a Night Warrior on a different world in the mortal plane. You discover they are a same-sex couple. It’s not a huge part of the storyline – it’s just something that they are.trans character Pelagosgender changes to the barbershopWe have a team that has a lot of different people with different viewpoints and backgrounds, so it’s important to us to tell stories that we care about, that reflect our concerns, and also make Azeroth a place that is representative of lots of different points of view, and very welcoming. Whatever your background is, there’s a place for you in this world.

This is a beginning for us. It’s not "well, we did that, and now we’re all done." We always think of more quests, more stories, more art to make and more systems to build. We’ll absolutely be thinking and looking for more ways to allow further representation in the future.

DiscoPrince의 댓글It's ironic how those who share their dislike and opposition for blizzards romance nonsense are banned and regarded as condensing. That's how you know the issue is political- there is opposing sides. Honestly- I don't care either way. It's Blizzard's game, the developers and writers can do whatever they like with their story and their game.

I do find it amusing how Blizzard has altered their characters because of the unyielding pressure from a few fan bases (Talisen and Evital youtube channel for instance). They have been pushing for more homosexual relationship, so Blizzard has blatantly catered for them. Our introduction to Flynn made no suggestion that he was gay or bi, or even interested in Shaw. The only thing we knew in BFA was that Shaw was interested in someone (at the time it was unknown who). Most people thought it might have been Valeera since they had been working closely with each other for so long. But the crowds pushed hard for blizzard to write in Flynn and Shaw as gay- they did so in shadows rising. How is that not forced? It's literally because a few fans demanded it. Like I said- I don't mind- it's their story, but to say they planned it that way I do not find true.

Someone mentioned earlier about writing in a relationship between Malfurion STORMRAGE and Illidan STORMRAGE... they are twin brothers... that would be incest. I just want to have a good time playing video games with my friends. It's not entertaining to me if a character is LGBTQ+ or if the character is straight. At least it's not if it isn't a part of an interesting story. Don't do it just because it's hip in these days or to get some thumbs up on twitter. Introducing a characters sexuality (idc if it's LGBTQ+ or straight) alone isn't interesting. Often times it feels like you just want to get some good PR. Romance exists in WoW but for the most part it's passively acknowledged as existing (in any form, interracial, interspecies, lgbt, etc.)

It's rarely ever the focus, and when it is, it's usually mocked when it's straight relationships. See: Thrall and Aggra (GO'EL!) and their horrendous wedding questline that people still mock. Or Tyrande and Malfurion who are constantly the butt of the jokes, or Jaina who is often joked about having been or borderline having been in a relationship/romantic pursuit with multiple different characters. Arthas, Kael'thas, Kalecgos, Thrall or vice versa.

It's only not mocked for being the hammy bull*!@# it is when it can be shielded with political claptrap. Usually when it's not a heterosexual relationship.Netharos의 댓글

I mean virtue signaling by itself is just such a silly concept. By that metric the lack of LGTB+ representation is "virtue signaling" to people that don't respect its existence.

So IDK man, it's pretty crappy that you see the acknowledgement of other's people's existence as "virtue signaling". It must be such a lofty position to not get excited by that glimmer of reflection of your own existence. I guess it's the sort of thing that has no sheen when you see it all your life.
